Mesh Size Reference Chart

Mesh size refers to the measurement of the openings in a mesh or screen. It is typically used to describe the size of particles or granules that can pass through the openings.

The mesh size is usually specified as the number of openings per linear inch or millimeter. For example, a mesh size of 100 means there are 100 openings per linear inch. The smaller the mesh size, the finer the particles that can pass through.

How to Read This Chart

Higher mesh numbers indicate finer particle sizes. Mesh number represents the number of openings per linear inch in the sieve wire.

Equipment Selection

Use target mesh/micron values to determine the correct mill type: jet mill for ultra-fine (<10μm), impact mill for medium range (10-150μm).

Test Your Material

Particle size targets vary by material density and morphology. Contact our engineers for a free material test to confirm achievable fineness.
